Volume 8, Fall 2019, marks the first issue of the Undergraduate Journal of Service Learning and Community-Based Research in its new home, the University of North Carolina Wilmington’s Office of Applied Learning. Thank you to all who helped to make this a smooth transition. We are now utilizing our new website and online submission system. This will streamline the process and make things easier for authors and reviewers. We have also moved to a twice-yearly publication schedule. We will be accepting submissions until January 15^th for the spring issue to be published in April, and submissions until August 15^th for the fall issue to be published in November.

The goal of the Undergraduate Journal of Service Learning and Community-Based Research is to showcase the work of undergraduate students related to any aspect of service learning and community-based research. We publish a range of pieces from research with a community organization to reflections on the service learning experience. Please see our website for more information about the type of work we publish and how to submit. If you are an undergraduate student, we encourage you to submit your work. If you work with undergraduates doing this type of work, please encourage them to submit their work as well, and spread the word to your colleagues about this excellent opportunity for undergraduate students.

The articles in this issue are varied, from a reflection on the process of community-engaged research in a middle school science classroom to how maps can be used in community engagement, from how a university supports community service to the importance of libraries as centers of community knowledge. I hope you enjoy reading the pieces in this issue.
