How much does it cost to register and submit to this journal?

The Undergraduate Journal of Service Learning and Community-Based Research is free for both making an account and submitting manuscripts.

How many volumes are published in a year?

Currently, we publish two volumes a year. One volume is published in the April-May timeframe and the other is published around November-December. The date of publication varies depending on the number of submissions we receive for that volume. However, we make a conscious effort to communicate with authors through out the publication process and notify them as soon as we know when the volume will be published.

Do you publish special volumes focusing on one topic or area of interest?

We have published one special issue so far and hope to continue publishing more. Be sure to make an account with us so that you are notified if a call for papers for a special edition volume is announced.

How do I make an account?

Making an account with us is easy. Simply head to our home page and in the top right corner should be some options for you to make an account. You will need to provide your name, a valid email address and a secure password.

My students are working on projects that relate to this journal? Should I recommend they send their work here?

Yes, please! Although we discourage instructors from making a submission to our journal a requirement for their courses, we do encourage faculty to share information about our journal with their students who are working on service learning or community-based research projects.

I am working on a community-based research project with my undergraduate students. Can I be a co-author on their manuscript?

Unfortunately, we only publish work with undergraduate authors. Faculty and graduate students cannot co-author manuscripts in our journal.

My student asked me to submit an email confirming that they wrote the paper they submitted for a class. Where do I send it?

All students must have their faculty advisor email the journal at ujslcbr@uncw.edu to confirm that it is their student's work and was done as part of a class, thesis, or independent research project.
