Autism in a Whole New Light

Abstract

For my service learning experience I observed and assisted in an Autistic Supportclassroom at an elementary school. Ijoinedthe class on Fridays for a total of seven visits. Ibegan by getting to know the four students in the class and learning about their disabilities. I alsodeveloped an understanding of the three teachers and how they all interacted with one another.Spending time in this type of classroom setting, I came to realize how much effort goes intoproviding an education for children with special needs.
